This feminine Polynesian half sleeve tattoo was designed for Heike and it includes some realistic flowers to reflect her passion for them.
Her story develops from the shoulder in a growing spiral that has several paths which end in the past, and one that continues into the future with a new start (represented by the koru).
Where the ended paths have symbols for adversities and pain, the current one has a sun for joy over a turtle representing family, and the two frangipani flowers within the sun represent a son and a daughter, surrounded by a braid for family unity.
The flower of hibiscus on the shoulder also represents Heike's daughter, who has always been a fixed point through all the hard times (thorns and path of Kamehameha), always faced with adaptability, strength, and determination (the shark teeth, hammerhead shark, and spearheads).Important people in her life have a place within the tattoo, the row of birds represents her voyage, leading to her new family and prosperity, with mutual support as a fixed point of her new life (the chasing birds near a star).
