The main element of this half sleeve tattoo requested by Owen, in the middle of the shoulder, is a sun symbolizing positivity and eternity with a Marquesan cross in the middle (harmony, balance).
Warrior motifs have about the same importance throughout the whole design: the lower row of enata warriors closing the armband, the kena, the centipede, the spear heads.
Above the enata row there are a lizard on the left and the double koru (children) on the right protected by kena and centipede.
Above them another row represents protection and lineage and some letters are included as maorigrams: C,SG and B, which is close to a seashell and a dot for femininity and importance.
On top, the all seeing eye keeps the enemies at bay.
Flax leaves represent family and coconut leaves are for prosperity and status.
