The hammerhead shark is an animal symbolizing sociality as it moves in groups of many individuals, but it´s also a symbol of determination and tenacity and together with the spear heads on the shark fins it represents the warrior protecting the family (the turtle on its inside).
The turtle flippers include the maorigrams of two L letters representing the wife and daughter of Corrado, who requested this tattoo and the Marquesan cross symbolizes the harmony that family gives him.
The all seeing eye on the back fin keeps enemies at bay and helps facing all difficulties (Kamehameha´s path) together with the help of his family (the ani ata motif along the shark back).
